Lavada Condo
On Sunday, June 16,2024, Lavada Condo, age 88 of Red Oak (formerly Midlothian and Grand Prairie) graduated peacefully to her reward. She was born on September 8, 1935 in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Her childhood years consisted of living in various states such as Oregon, California, New Mexico and more. They were farmers, migrant workers that forged a love of gardening in Lavada that lasted her entire life. In her teen years, her family moved back to Oklahoma where she graduated from Sweetwater High School. Shortly after graduation, she married the love of her life, Joe Condo. They made a wonderful life together living in Oklahoma, then Texas for most of their marriage. Lavada and Joe welcomed three children, Danielle, Joe Jr., and Valerie. The family was the center of her universe and Lavada was the best wife and mother anyone could hope for. Then along came grandchildren and her life was complete. Maw Maw was born and no one could imagine the depths of her love for those grandbabies. She looked for ways to create fun memories for all and those memories are priceless. Her creations were a source of conversation for all who knew her. She was fun loving and full of love to give to any and all. She was very vocal about her love for God and served in her church her entire life. She was the Sectional Missionette Director for many years because she loved seeing young people grow in their faith. She always found a way to tell others about her Jesus. Lavada was preceded in death by her husband Joe Condo, parents Dale Ratliff and Essie Zell Ratliff along with brothers Hack Ratliff and Ray Ratliff. She is survived by her children Danielle Capehart (David), Joe Jr., Valerie Wilson (Steve), Grandchildren David Capehart (Johnna), Lesley Capehart, Stephanie Wilson-Dykes (Jody), Krystal Rigsby (James), Derek Dwilson (Stephanie), Clint Condo (Samantha), and Chelsea Raggio (Mike). She had 10 great-grandchildren she was so proud of, Kalei, Jaycee, Kobe, Lowee, Averie, Blake, Madison, Maylee, Kaylin, and Ethan. Wanda Wilson
Wanda Wilson, 80, passed away peacefully May 21, 2020. She was born in Denver City, Texas, January 20 1940 to Emmett and LaVeta Johnson. Visit Wanda’s memorial here. She is preceded in death by her parents Emmett & LaVeta Johnson, sister Geneva Parker, and brother J.D. Campbell. Wanda is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Donald Wilson, sons Stephen Wilson, Gregory Wilson and Jeffrey Wilson. Wanda was a loving wife, mother to 3 sons and 2 bonus sons, grandmother to 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Joe Condo
Joseph Leslie Condo went to be with Jesus on June 4, 2014. He was born August 5, 1932 in Canadian, Texas to Samuel Ernest Condo and Helen Louise Condo. Visit Joe’s memorial here. He joined the US Navy in January 1952, where he served in the Korean War. He was a 3rd Class Radar Man on the USS New Jersey where he received four medals for his service. On June 13, 1954 he married his one true love, Lavada Ratliff in Sweetwater, Oklahoma. Falling more and more in love every year, they would have celebrated 60 years together in just a few days. Together they raised three children, whom were the apple of his eye. He graduated from New Mexico State University in 1962 with an Engineering Degree. He immediately started work at LTV until 1966 when he began work at Bell Helicopter, where he worked the next 18 years. He eventually retired from the FAA in 1994. After retirement, he continued to work as a DER for multiple aircraft companies until his death. He enjoyed fishing, traveling in his RV and living life to its fullest. At 70 years old he was still riding his jet skis while wearing his cowboy boots. He was a member of The Oaks Fellowship Assembly of God. His greatest earthly treasure was his wife and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Samuel E. Condo. He is survived by his wife, Lavada Condo of Midlothian; his three children, Danielle and husband, David Capehart of Midlothian, Joe Condo, Jr., of Hillsboro, Valerie and her husband Steve Wilson of Waxahachie; 7 grandchildren, Dave Capehart, Lesley Capehart, Stephanie Wilson Alexander, Krystal Rigsby, Derek Dwilson, Clint Condo and Chelsea Raggio; and also by 6 great grandchildren; he is also survived by one sister, Alice and husband, Tom Geske; his in-laws, Haskell and Carol Ratliff, Danny and Carol Ratliff, Ray and Charlotte Ratliff and Mary Brumley. Aaron Cohen
Aaron was born on May 14, 1979 to JoAnn Immormino (Jody Collins) in Huntsville, Texas. He was raised by Jody and Ron Collins. He graduated from Bryan High School in Bryan, Texas in 1998 and received a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies and in theology from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in 2001. He is preceded in death by his sister, Lilianna Collins. Aaron leaves behind his loving wife of 15 years, Olivia; children Abigail (14), Sarah (12), David (10), John (9), Joseph (7), Elizabeth (6), Hannah (5), Ruth (3), Rachel (15 month), and a baby boy due in November (Joshua Aaron); parents Jody and Ron Collins; siblings Heidi, John, and Marinda; three brothers-in-law, five nieces and two nephews, and numerous family and dear family friends. Leon Dube
Leon F. Dube, age 82, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017, in Corpus Christi He was born December 28, 1934 in Kingsville, Texas to Alfred and Sophie Dube. He was a professor of Marketing at Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi for 44 years. Visit Leon’s memorial here. He was preceded in death by his parents. Leon is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara; a son, Michael (Maureen) Dube; and his two daughters Jennifer (Chuck) Taylor and Stephanie (Derek) Dwilson; and seven grandchildren: Jason Scumacher, Jennice Schumacher, Cole Dube, Shelby Taylor, Sydney Taylor, Mitchell Taylor, and Emily Wagner; and his pets Baby Tex and Biscuit. Donations may be made in his honor to Lutheran Social Services of Texas. Funeral will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church on Thursday, November 2 at 12 noon.
